My husband Dameon just woke me up at 4 am, and told me the most insane story.
I’m leaving for a business trip in a few hours, and it’s due to rain all weekend.
He wanted to fish before I left.
Dameon went fishing later than he normally would- way later.
Around 2:00 am, after having some awesome luck fishing he started the drive home.
He was fishing under the Hathaway Bridge. Its a one way- so you need to drive down the bridge to flip around.
He flipped around and noticed a motorcycle on the ground. It wasn’t there when he drove by before.
He pulled over and put his Jeep in park. He turned the hazards on and ran.
Dameon ran back down the bridge, and up almost all the way to the end in the other direction.
He found the motorcyclist on the ground.
One arm completely severed at the shoulder, on the ground further away. One leg almost severed- barely hanging on.
He then did something I wouldn’t have. I would’ve had no clue what to do, other than to call 911.
Dameon fixed the tourniquet on his shoulder that was put on ineffectively by the motorcyclist’s friend, and held pressure on his leg until the police showed up to take over.
For hours he stuck around waiting to hear how to guy was, and giving his statement.
The man went into surgery stable and survived.
He freaking survived!
This is the craziest story. Right!?
I know. I felt the same way. I thought “this can’t be true.”
This stuff never happens to people like us.
Then I saw the pictures.
The man on the ground, tourniquet on his shoulder and my husbands hand on his chest.
I told Dameon I was so proud of him and he totally saved that guy’s life, he replied “I just did what anyone else would have.”
Ummmmm, NO. I would’ve called 911 and been a hot mess until the paramedics arrived. Straight up.
I definitely would not have done what he did, and I don’t think many other people would have either.
My husband is too humble to tell this story. He is probably going to be a little upset I wrote this.
Well too bad. I have every right to be proud of him.
I’m damn proud to call this amazing man my husband.
Unrelated photos of MY husband, a straight up hero.
